Educate · Teacher Stipend

We support the teachers who want to offer Stellr activities to their students

Taking a team to a live Challenge or running a Campaign at your school takes real time — recruiting students, coordinating logistics, and following through afterward. The Teacher Stipend recognizes that work. You can earn as you participate, supporting both your students and yourself.

More than the money

  • 10–20 documented PD contact hours. You get a written statement of hours and the standards covered. It may count toward CTE or recertification, subject to your district’s approval.

  • Catalyst membership, free for the program year — a $149 value.

  • A certificate and a shareable digital badge you can put on LinkedIn.

  • A letter of recommendation on request.

  • The private educator LinkedIn group — other teachers running the same material, sharing what worked.

  • Public recognition on our site and at events.

Who it’s for

Built to fit around teaching

You’re a high school teacher, and during the school year you can bring students to a live Challenge, supervise a Campaign at your school, or both. Open to U.S. high school teachers only.

Expect to spend somewhere between 10–20 hours across the year. It’s built to fit around teaching, not to sit on top of it.

How it works

  1. 1

Apply and onboard. We’ll walk you through orientation, the participation agreement, and a W-9. You write a one-page plan for your year.

  2. 2

Do the work. Your team joins a Competition — either by you bringing students to a live Challenge, or by you supporting them through a Campaign at your school. We supply the curriculum, lesson plans, and delivery guides.

  3. 3

Close out. You complete a short survey and reflection, and at least two-thirds of your students complete theirs.

  4. 4

Get paid. One check, posted 31 May, covering everything you earned that year.

Common questions

Before you apply

When exactly do I get paid?
Checks post on 31 May each year and cover everything you completed since the last payout. Sign up in January and you're paid that same 31 May. Anything you finish after 31 May rolls into the next year's check.
What is the difference between a Challenge and a Campaign?
Both are ways of running a Competition. A Challenge is the live version — you bring a team to a venue for the event. A Campaign is the remote version — you run it at your own school, in class or as a club. Either one earns the same amount.
Do I need to do both a Challenge and a Campaign?
No. Either one earns $200. Doing both is how you reach the $500 maximum.
What counts as "at least two-thirds of student responses"?
Two-thirds of the students who took part, rounded up. Bring 5 students to a Challenge and 4 of them need to submit; run a Campaign with 8 students and 6 need to submit. We'll give you the links and a reminder schedule to make this straightforward.
Does this count for CTE credit?
We give you documented PD contact hours and a statement of the standards covered. Whether those count toward CTE or recertification is decided by your district or state — we can't approve that, but we'll give you everything you need to ask.
Do I need to be a Stellr member first?
No — applying is how you join. Submitting the form registers you as a Stellr Educator, our free membership for teachers, or updates the account you already have. There is no cost to take part, and Catalyst membership is included for the program year.
What about my students’ information?
For Campaigns we ask for a roster with student names and email addresses so we can send them their survey. It’s handled under our privacy policy, stored securely, and never shared or sold.
Educator
I already had a very big interest in space at that time, but I soon found out that this competition was the best way to actually convert that interest into something useful.
